Mr. Chestnut was very easy-going about everything and the current situation, and his wife was just the same.
"You will have to share the living room, dears. Our spare room is full of junk," Mrs. Chestnut told them as she pulled on her jacket. "Feel free to dive into the fridge! We'll be back soon!" Yiisa and Jacen thanked them as the couple left the house soon after, leaving them alone in an unfamiliar house.
"It's odd how easily they are excepting all of this, Jacen," Yiisa said out of concern.
"Oh, don't worry about them--they are very 'weird', but I have always liked them. If an alien were to come down to earth, they'd invite it in for tea." The two smiled at each other, then were silent for a moment. "So," Jacen ventured, "you can have the couch and I'll take the floor--"
"No thank you, Jacen." Yiisa interrupted gently. "I won't be sleeping tonight, but working on the time split. You should get some rest, though...you look pale." Jacen couldn't argue with that, and easily settled himself down. Nightfall came quickly, but he was already asleep and didn't even notice as Yiisa winked quietly out of sight.
"Don't you dare go near him, Irvis!"
"Go near him? Now why would I do that when it's you I'm here for?"
Jacen slowly opened his eyes, wondering what it was that he was hearing. What he saw woke him up instantly--it was Yiisa and a boy two heads taller than her, bearing over her with a grin. Jacen was up and across the room before he could think out his actions, standing in front of Yiisa.
"Hey, back off." Jacen managed to say around a tamped yawn, trying to make out this guy's features in the dark. But he didn't get a chance--he was doubling over in pain as Irvis's fist came to plant itself in his gut. As he fell to his knees he heard Yiisa call out his name, and there was an odd flash of golden light that struck Irvis down right in front of him...
...then all was black.
When Jacen finally came to, he was confused to hear the twittering of birds and the trickling of a stream. A gentle, fresh breeze wisped over him, as if inviting him to further wake. As he did, Jacen found himself looking up into the dancing leaves of a white and brown tree. All too suddenly memories of the previous night struck his thoughts and reminded him of the faint ache he felt in his gut. As he sat up, he noticed that Yiisa was laying next to him, extremely pale and limp. Jacen felt his heart begin to hammer in alarm as he shakily felt for a pulse at her wrist.
He was very relieved to feel the pulse, and heaved a sigh. What had happened?

Jacen wasn't sure if he should leave Yiisa there and search around for any other kind of civilization, or just stay there and hope with all his might that she would arose. There weren't any signs of physical wounds, but the paleness is what was worrying Jacen. Yiisa had started to get a fever that ebbed and then flared back into life. Jacen paced slowly around the tree, his arms crossed as he thought. If Yiisa had brought them here, then it was hopefully a good place? As he stepped past Yiisa again, he realized something with with such clarity that he was tempted to smack himself. Of course! He could carry her, duh! Shaking his head at his own ignorance, he scooped down to gently lift the limp form into a better grip.
Not that Yiisa was heavy, but Jacen had never exactly carried a human being his size before. But he managed, slightly staggering as he headed off into the trees. The sun was beginning to set and an odd chill was stirring at the sidelines, just waiting to spring once the suns searing beams could not get them. Jacen tried to walk faster, ignoring the weariness in his arms as he trudged along. Back at the house, there had been a golden light... had that come from Yiisa? Perhaps that is what was making her this way?
"Excuse me, young man... exactly what are you doing with that poor girl?" Jacen blinked, looking around for the voice. "Down here, boy." When he looked down, he was astonished to see that a turtle was talking to him. A small one that was slowly walking toward him. Hmm... time splits, talking turtles... perhaps now there would be a magical candy that would give him super powers.
"I am looking for a town or someone that could help her, you?" Jacen asked with a strained voice, trying to be polite. Politeness paid off in the end, even if it was to a turtle. The turtle seemed to smile as it stretched up its neck to better view him and Yiisa.
"I am trying to head toward the village before before the chill sets in. I was out a bit to late today, I thought for sure the chill would snag me this time. Would you mind giving me a lift?"
"Of course, if you would guide me in the right direction."
"A deal it is!" the turtle declared, and with a poof, it was gone. Jacen nearly squeaked as he suddenly felt something on his head. "Woah there, boy! Keep your balance or I will topple right off!" Jacen mentally sighed as he adjusted himself so that he was standing straighter and that his head was erect--and he now discovered that the turtle was female since her voice suggested it.
"Couldn't you have poofed to the village?"
"Yes, but this is much more fun! And only one 'poof' a day, I'm afraid. So I suggest you get going, boy. Head off to your right, you are going completely in the wrong direction." So Jacen was off, trying to keep his wearing hold on Yiisa while keeping himself balanced for the turtle. As they were passing a log, a lzard scuttled on top.
"Truttle! There you are! What are you doing up there? I want to try!" before Jacen could do so much as protest the little white lizard had climbed right up his leg, over Yiisa and up the side of his head in a matter of seconds. Even though it was such a small difference, Jacen had to adjust his balance again. Willing himself to be calm and patient, he set off again. The turtle and lizard just sat there on his head, chatting away while he struggled not to move his head too much and manage to not drop Yiisa. He made it a point to not make too many pauses just in case another talkative creature decided that riding on his head would be fun.
The forest path lead him on and on... and then the sun set.
"Boy, you had better hurry! That chill will have us frozen here until the sun rises again!" Truttle exclaimed, tapping on his head with urgency. Jacen hefted Yiisa up further into his arms and began to run, somehow still managing to keep a hold of all his passengers. He hardly noticed as he ran right into the village, where several fires burned around it. There was a group of women and men who wore thin clothing, staring at him as he staggered toward them.
"Truttle! You manage to bring in the oddest--Yiisa!" a woman said, moving forward as Jacen sunk down to his knees. The woman went down with him, cradling Yiisa to her chest. With shaking arms Jacen reached up and gently grasped the turtle, and set her down off to the side. Jacen was so dang tired that he didn't notice that he was picked up, and soon on a comfortable bed. The second he felt his head touch a heavenly soft pillow, he was fast a sleep.

"What could I have done, Well? You know better than I do that Irvis would have killed him had I not interfered."
Was this going to be a constant thing? Hearing voices whenever he was beginning to wake up? Not that Jacen was complaining, but...it never seemed to be a good thing.
"Yiisa, my darling, I know. But Earth is not able to support the means of magic that you cast. It could have killed you."
"...Yes, I guess I got 'caught up in the moment',"
Jacen really, really didn't want to open his eyes, but he forced them open anyways. A blurry image of Yiisa and a thinner-than-life woman took shape, but for some reason he could not form any words on his lips, or even bubble a few out. Hopefully he wasn't drooling.
"I can understand that. So, who is your friend anyways? He smells of time."
"How can you smell time?" Yiisa chuckled, loosely crossing her arms. "But of course you already know our position. Truttle has a habit of blabbing...but in any case, his name is Jacen."
"At least he's good looking,"
"Well!" As Jacen's eye sight cleared, he could make the two females out better. Yiisa was in a simple, yet very pretty baby-blue dress with a graceful belt. The thin woman wore dark green attire and a white sash that threatened to blind him, along with her willowy white hair.
"Sorry to interrupt, but..." Jacen managed to push out, his throat feeling dry and scratchy. He blinked in surprise when Yiisa came to kneel at his bedside, putting a fair hand on his exposed cheek.
"Thank you, Jacen, for carrying me all the way here."
Uhoh, here it comes. The blush burned from his cheeks, and he could have sworn that Yiisa's eyes lit up.
(To be continued when I have more time to type...I guess the only way to get around a plot hole is to just keep pushing forward at this point.)
