"Princess Linu, your father summons you."
"I do not care."
"Princess, you know how he gets--"
"I said I do not care. Do not make me repeat myself again."
The blur of hyperspace danced past her large oval-shaped window, illuminating her pale blue and green skin. Anger flickered in her large, rounded eyes. It was ridiculous how her father favored the humans so! They were nothing but a failed experiment that had gone way out of hand. For their own safety, her people had had to leave to another galaxy.
"They took everything, you know."
"Linu,"
"Leave me, please."
There was silence, and Linu turned her back to the guard. She was relieved when she heard his large boots tap delicately away from her, and the further silence that signaled his absence. Linu sighed, brushing her ridiculously long, silver hair over her slender shoulders. Why hadn't the humans been destroyed, since they posed such a threat? Meager little scandals!
It was time to take action...on her own.
Fernad was busy at work, clicking away at his large terminal and turning dials under the desk every so often. He took a hand and stroked the smooth skin of his chin, one eyebrow arched in perplexed concentration. He didn't even notice as Linu came to his side, a delicate and small figure in comparison. Linu had always admired the man--tall, muscularly built, kind black eyes and wavy brown hair. An ex-soldier, now he dedicated his life and knowledge to technology advancement and science.
"Try widening the area of the scope, maybe?"
Fernad grinned and looked down to her, and then reached under the desk and fiddled around with one of the dials.
"Aah, it is the most simple of things that pass my eye. Tell me, young Linu, what can I help you with?"
"I need..." Linu began as she walked slowly around the large, very clean room, where desks held various objects and different computers and controls. "I need something that will transform me into an animal from Earth. An animal where I can walk around freely without detection."
"Aah, that can be easily done. May I ask why?"
"Oh, just curiosity. I'd be in contact with the others down there, as well. I want to see why father adores them so much." Fernad chuckled, knowing very well Linu despised that greatly.
"In that case, I am willing to assist you. I trust you have passed the Human Knowledge Test?"
"The HKT? I sure have. Rather simple, despite there being more than one hundred questions on each page. Listen, I'm in a bit of a hurry." Fernad regarded the princess closely, then tilted his head up to the ceiling in exasperation.
"I can tell that you do not have your father's permission."
"No, I do not. And he does not need to know, for he is busy right now." Linu said as she watched the large man sigh and cross to a table, where small, round devices sat. He shifted through some, then tossed an orange one over to her. Linu caught it in her slender hands, and grinned. "Thank you, Fernad. I'll be on my way." With that she nodded to him, and swiftly left the room.
Fernad rubbed the back of his head, and sighed once again. "Princess Linu, what are you up to this time..."
