Mikke found himself crawling through the hole, blinking in surprise at the sight before him. To be honest...he had never really seen the ocean before. He slowly made his way down to Aeya, eyes transfixed on the water as the breeze brushed against his sensitive wing feathers.
"Aeya...so this is what an ocean looks like," he said softly, forgetting about the sweet substance that had led him here in the first place, for now.
Lila was still transfixed as to what had happened...but she still could not be alarmed. She was grateful for Meive's support, and could tell he sensed no threat, either. The young woman glanced up at Meive's face before turning her attention back to the bare spot before them. Slowly, she extended her hand again...and again, a hand was placed in hers, except that she did not jerk back this time. The being that stood before them was just as tall as Meive, with a slightly longer neck, very thin build, pale skin...and the most beautiful of eyes that reminded Lila so much of Raz's! They were a sparkling, in-depth ruby red that held so much warmness, so much kindness. The being had silky black and deep blue hair that fell to...his?...shoulders, and held himself up with perfect posture.
'Greetings, friends. We are sorry for not exposing ourselves sooner--we had to make certain that you were not here to harm us. But now that we know you are indeed not...we shall show you where you truly are.' The voice was just as silky as his hair, and spoke into Lila and Meive's minds. He drew his long fingers out of Lila's hand, and then there was an odd pulse that traveled through the air. The scenery around them melted, the gray desolate buildings turning into grand structures where color was strewn in delicate displays, and the streets were whole and beings like the one who stood before them walked casually, like everyday people.
Lila turned in a slow circle, amazed. What was this...?
"For thousands of years, we have been hiding ourselves. What you were experiencing before was an illusion. The 'ruble' you and your friends walked around were us, the beings who live here. Everything that appeared to be a landscape of ancient ruins was an actual place with actual buildings, people and streets." the strangely beautiful man said, gracefully gesture with one hand. "If anyone were to land on this planet now, none of you would be seen. You would appear to be motionless rubble. But you would see the intruders walking around, avoiding their obstacles without knowing they were actually there." Lila beamed, very impressed. That was a fantastic idea! They were...safe. Very safe, it was so hard to believe...realizing something, Lila turned around to where they had left the ship. A hand slowly moved up to her mouth.
The ship really had crashed into a building...the rubble of the grand structure was still visible, even from this distance.
"Do not fear--only a few were hurt, none dead. The repairs will be easy enough." the man said, obviously sensing Lila's growing emotions. "But what of you two? We were certain that when you crash landed, your injuries would be too severe even for us to heal."
Raz couldn't help but be a bit stressed now--the tapping at his elbow wouldn't stop. He even positioned himself at an angle to where he could barely see Kita from the corner of his eye...but it soon became clear that it wasn't her. He held up his welding tool defensively as an odd ripple coursed through the air...and the scenery melted away before his very eyes. And standing near his elbow was a pretty, interesting being, who giggled as his eyes widened behind his bangs. Woah...what was going on???
"Here, let us fix the ship for you," the girl being said, discarding Raz's tool and gesturing to a group of other beings similar to herself. Raz stood to the side, numb and confused, as the group pulled out their own tools and got to work.
The pulse through the air had pulled Kita from her thoughts, and she straightened up in amazement as the scenery drastically changed. They really had toppled into a building...! But the beings that suddenly came into sight were not alarmed or upset at all, but rather took over Raz's job. Kita blinked when she realized she really was sitting in a chair! She had wondered how a rock could have been so comfortable...Kita's reaction? "...Well cool!"

Aeya was surprised to find that Mikke had been following her. She didn’t think anyone had noticed her disappearance. The half-mermaid was glad of the company though, Mikke always had a comforting presence. Smiling she was even more surprised that he didn’t seem to have ever been to the ocean. It was almost incredulous! As Mikke stood before her she was about to face the water again, when she felt something surge past her. The landscape behind her suddenly began melting away, the dull grey of the ruins turning into a myriad of colours, and buildings.
Her jaw dropped open as her eyes grew wide. At first she started to wonder if maybe what she was seeing was from dehydration, but she could feel nothing wrong with her. It took her a few minutes before she finally managed to control herself again. Closing her mouth, the only thing that seemed to be stuck were her deer in the headlight eyes. The young girl just couldn’t get over the gorgeous sight of the buildings. It reminded her of the ancient pictures she’d seen of stained glass. What is this? Is that really there, that city. Was it hiding in the ruins this entire time? Finally ripping her sapphire eyes away from the distant landscape, she looked to Mikke.
“Do you see that? Or am I finally completely mad…” She lifted the arm closest to him and point behind him. One of her long pointed webbed fingers directed straight ahead. She had temporarily forgotten all about the soothing waves behind her.
Meive allowed himself to stare, just long enough before it would be considered rude. The figure that appeared was incredible, he’d never seen anything like it before. When it spoke to them, its voice sent a wave of peace through him. As their surroundings melted away, the grey became washed with colours of every kind. It was mesmerizing and the youth found himself following Lila in her look around.
When their host informed them about the crash, a shot of guilt beat in his chest, even if no one had been seriously hurt, it was still their fault. As it spoke about Meive and the others as well as the fact that they seemed unharmed, Meive let his emerald gaze fall to the tall slim figure in front of them.
“One of our friends, she has the ability to heal. We didn’t know much about it, so it came as a surprise when it happened. And we’re incredibly sorry for the damage we caused; we weren’t in good control of the ship when it landed.” He spoke kindly and with an undertone of guilt. He didn’t know what else to add so remained silent instead.

"Do not worry, my friend, all is well! It is our fault for not getting out of the way fast enough, even though we had plenty of warning the moment you came out of hyperspace. Aah, so what I sense is true...these powers you all carry. Time," the being said, looking at Meive. "Control," his gaze turned to Lila next, who nodded. "The girl by the ship, ice...the boy--" he paused, head tilting very slightly to the side. Lila drew up a brow.
"What is it?"
"He seems familiar--his power is the manipulation of wind. The other two are too far for me to recognize."
"You know Aeya has the power to heal, and Mikke has a...shock problem. Oh goodness!" Lila gasped, going pale. "When he--when he let out all that energy...what did...he hit?" Lila was so worried and upset that the being laid a tentative hand on her shoulder to steady and calm her.
"Your Mikke did not hurt anyone, but he did give us quite the scare! Never fear, my friends." Lila sighed in relief, and the man took his hand from her shoulder. "By way of introduction, I am Luutris." Luutris said, bowing his head to Meive, then Lila.
"I am Lila Zenoth--thank you for your hospitality," the young woman said as she, too, bowed her head. She took a step back so that Meive could properly introduce himself.
Mikke blinked, and slowly turned... ...and his jaw literally dropped open.
"...Woah, how did...what...what's going on, Aeya?" he said, his wings twitching slightly. And still, he couldn't bring himself to feel alarmed.
Kita stood, carefully navigating herself around the colorful rubble of the toppled tower as she came to Raz's side, watching in an equal amount of awe as the group of majestic beings worked magic on the ship before their eyes. In just five minutes the ship began to look better than it ever had before! Raz didn't know why, but...he felt a bit uneasy, even though the feelings emitting from the beings were peaceful and calming. The girl who had been tapping his elbow earlier kept looking back over to him from time to time, and each time more realization seemed to light up her eyes. Finally she came back over, and before Raz could protest she reached out her slender hand and brushed aside his bangs. Kita looked between the two several times, one of her ears twitching.
Their eyes were exactly the same...

The words of their new friend did settle the unease in Meive somewhat, still not allowing himself to let it go quite so easily though. The young man was surprised to find that he was able to figure out their powers, each of them except Mikke’s and Aeya’s, who were somewhere else entirely. The guilt and worry about having let Aeya run off tore at him as his thoughts again settled on the half-mermaid.
It was another relief to find that Mikke’s release of energy hadn’t harmed anymore of this city’s inhabitants, it wouldn’t have made things much better, even if their hosts were being so hospitable. Meive did find Luutris’s comment about Raz interesting, since he seemed to hesitate a little longer than the rest. Waiting for Lila to introduce herself, the auburn haired youth stepped forward.
“My name’s Meive Kurnam and your kindness is truly appreciated.” He bowed his head politely before stepping back behind Lila.
Aeya stared at the city in close to the same expression as Mikke. She barely registered when he spoke, until she forced herself to concentrate on it. Processing his question the girl could only shrug, having absolutely no clue as to what was happening.
“At this point Mikke, who in the universe knows? Your guess is as good as mine at this point, but I still don’t feel anything bad coming from it. How about—” A yelp broke past her lips as something cold hit her heels. Jumping forward she landed close to Mikke, staring down to see what had happened. Seeing the back of her pants soaked and her heels wet, she quickly moved farther from the water and dug her feet deep into the dry sand while rolling her pant legs up. Finishing her task she was about to turn back to Mikke, slightly embarrassed but froze.
“…Come…Aenxye…”
The black haired young woman stood staring wide eyed at the vast ocean straight ahead, the amazing city behind her temporarily forgotten. The voice echoed around in her head for a few seconds before fading away, leaving her with an array of questions. Jerking out of her thoughts she decided to look over to Mikke.
“…hey…did you by chance…hear anything just now? You know…like a voice?” She felt incredibly insane for asking, but needed to know if she’d either hallucinated, wasn’t the only one to hear it or something really had just spoken to her. Her sapphire eyes watched the young onyx haired youth next to her.

Mikke blinked as the girl jumped, then stared out at the ocean. Concerned for her, he set a hand on her upper arm. She would feel nothing--his currents were, for the time being, stabilizied.
"No, Ayea, I heard nothing. Are you okay? You need some water...why not go take a quick swim? I'm right here for you," he added, knowing that they had all gone through an extreme amount of stress in just the last few hours. It did not surprise him that, perhaps, Aeya was...hearing things. But...what if she really was? The city behind him was forgotten as all his attention directed itself at Aeya, wanting her to be okay.
Luutris smiled at them both, accepting their introductions. "We welcome you to Mriita-Selo, and offer shelter. But before I can offer true hospitality, we need to exchange information." Lila nodded in agreement--it was only fair, after all. They would need to know why they had crash landed in the first place, and Lila was she sure and her group would be very curious to hear these people's story of secrecy. Luutris smiled again, and turned and began to walk toward a shorter but flawless building. "Your friends will join us shortly, I have sent messengers."
As Lila began to follow, a thought struck her. And this she wanted to share with Meive, so she connected to his mind.
Meive, have you noticed how Luutris keeps saying 'we' and 'us'? Only once has he said 'I'. From this, I believe that these people are a true unity, a true connection...like a pack or a hive. And Luutris is their leader...I do believe these people are Nuujlou! A delicate race that has dissapeared from records for about a thousand or less years. It would explain the double letters in Luutris' name...we are safer than I thought, Meive. This race is very dependable, forgiving, and all-out peace makers. We'll have to be careful...whether we are being treated like royalty or not, the prospect of us possibly bringing a war to their doorstep will not be overlooked.
"You are Razziel!" the girl said, slowly removing her hand. Kita raised her eyebrow...the way the girl had said his name suggested there were two zs, not just one, in his name.
"Um, Raz? Do you know these people?" Kita asked softly, her curiousity coated all over the question.
Finally Raz reacted. He took a step back from them, not able to take his exposed eyes off of the girl, who just looked at him patiently. Silently two other beings, these being tall males, stepped behind Raz and set a hand on each of Raz's shoulders. Kita felt the air tense and she walked right up to them, gently brushing their hands off of Raz.
"Hey, there is no need for that! What's with the heat?"
"Razziel is put under trial--"
"What? No, you know it was not my doing--!" Raz spat out, but Kita had an upper hand to this situation. She put a finger up the Raz's lips, and thankfully he shushed.
"Alright, so be it. We shall go peacefully and solve this, yes?" Kita asked as she looked over her shoulder to the girl, who smiled and nodded.
"Yes, Luutris is requesting we bring you to join your other friends. Please, follow me--the repairs on your ship shall continue." The girl turned and began to walk, and Kita gently took Raz's hand. To her brief surprise, he gripped her's back. As they walked, Kita wondered if Razziel was...afraid, even though he did not show it and his eyes were covered up again.
One thing after another...

Aeya started fretting mentally, freaking out that maybe she was losing her mind. The idea that Mikke might think that about her too made her feel all the more hopeless. What caused her the most concern though, was the fact that she couldn’t pass the voice as being made up, she couldn’t believe that it was something her mind had created. Maybe this is what it’s like to be crazy! You can’t determine whether it’s reality or not… When the boy mentioned that she go for a swim, she was ready to jump on it immediately, thinking that maybe it would help her. Until reality snapped in. A blush slowly crept up her face, as she stepped back and looked at the water.
“Slight problem with that you see…” She scratched her cheek awkwardly, “It’s like this…When I come into contact with salt water…I immediately turn into my mermaid form, which means that…my clothes would be shredded…so if you wouldn’t mind turning around for a minute or two Mikke…” She shuffled her feet. Aeya knew the request sounded absurd, but it wasn’t as if she wasn’t prepared, she always wore a bathing suit underneath her clothes for those what if situations. It was most often only her jeans that she took off, her shirt not usually getting in the way of the fins from her back.
When Meive let the information from Lila sink in, he was stunned. He’d heard of the race back when he’d been in school in the textbooks, his teachers telling him about their strange disappearance and possible annihilation.
“I think you’re right Lila. We just need to make sure that we don’t do anything to offend them. We’re at their mercy.”
He followed a short distance behind Luutris, not sure what exactly he should do next. He’d said that the others would meet them shortly, though how his messengers knew where they were was something Meive had no clue of figuring out. All he could do was follow and see what would unfold.
End Part One!
